When doing a Sacred Pūjā we bring different offerings like water, incense, candle, food etc. Once it is offered to the Goddess it is called Prasādam. The offerings are received by Devī. She blesses them. What comes back is not in our hands, it is given. We receive with glad acceptance what is given. We can expect a result from offering the Pūjā... in the form of adrsta phala ~ an unseen result ~ that will fructify later. The seen result is what you receive back immediately... like kumkum, flowers etc.
This we call Prasādam.
What is included in the Prasādam?
Tridatu Sacred Thread
Tridatu is a three colour thread that is put on the right wrist at the completion of a Sacred Ritual. It symbolically represents the Divine Trinity Brahma or Sarasvatī, the creatve principle (Birth), Viṣṇu or Lakṣmi the sustaining principle (Life), and Śiva or Durgā the destroying principle (Death).
Kumkum
Kumkum is a red powder hat is used during a Pūjā Ritual. The red represents the Śakti ~ divine feminie ~ power. After offering it to Devī ... we add this powder to our ring finger and then place it on our forehead, throat, heart, solar pleuxus and womb space (or energetical space of the womb) reminding us to come back to alignment of all of those points.
May our thoughts, words, heart, action, creative and sexual energy be one.
