I have to be honest with you… this episode is something I have been wanting to create for a long, long time. Not because I was waiting for the right moment, but because she usually wouldn’t do this kind of thing.
And then she said YES. So here we are.
In this episode, I’m not just welcoming a guest. I’m sitting with someone who has walked beside me for years… Ingela Indirā Devī is not only a dear friend, she is my Guru Bai, my sister in the same lineage.
We have been neighbours in Bali for more than a decade. Shared teachers, shared devotion, shared moments of being deeply “cooked” by life.
Here, we speak about Bali, not as a place you visit, but as something that meets you… challenges you… transforms you. A place that doesn’t let you escape yourself. A place that invites you into the fire again and again, until something deeper stabilizes.
Ingela shares her journey of arriving here with nothing but a knowing. Of living through uncertainty, not even knowing if there would be enough for the next day… and discovering that in that exact place, something sacred reveals itself.
And then life brought her into an even deeper fire.
Her home… completely burned to the ground.
I also shared something deeply personal in this episode… a dream pattern that had lived in my body for decades, and how, through the grace of ritual, prayer, and this land, something finally released. It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t figured out. It unfolded when I was ready to meet it.
And that’s what this conversation keeps pointing back to…

ABOUT Ingela Pinglan
Ingela Indirā Devī is originally from Sweden and has called Bali home for the past 17 years. She is a truly one-of-a-kind woman—deeply devoted, committed, devotional, and dharmic in all areas of her life. She embodies sacred service through her unwavering dedication to her children, to their school in North Bali, to the Norwegian school in Sanur, and to her Sanskrit students.
She is also the co-creator of Bumiyatra Sacred Tours and Pilgrimages, which she has lovingly organized for many years with her dear brother Bruce Dharma. Together they guide people on authentic sacred journeys and treks, far beyond the ordinary tourist path, into the deeper heart of Bali and its spiritual essence.
Ingela has risen like a phoenix through life’s many transformations and stands as a living embodiment of Vedantic wisdom—the vision of oneness and the remembrance of the limitless Self.
For many years, she has been in my life as a sacred sister, a mirror, a beloved friend, and a cherished community member. We have shared the path of light and shadow, each returning home to the truth of who we are—together and separately.
